One Tap Timer

A timer for Apple Watch and iPhone that starts the moment you open it — September 9, 2026

Open the app and your preset time (1 minute 30 seconds by default) starts right away. When it ends, the watch taps you once and stops. It never keeps buzzing, so you can leave it alone. Put it on your watch face as a complication and it is truly one tap. To stop early, just press the Digital Crown.

How it works

  1. Open the app (or tap the complication). The timer starts.
  2. The water level drains across the whole screen. The remaining time is shown large in plain seconds, with a small 1:33 below.
  3. At the end you get a single haptic, and the screen turns light with “DONE”.
  4. Tap the “DONE” screen to run it again.

Tapping while the timer is running does nothing. That way a stray touch during a workout or a task cannot send the timer back to the start.

Stopping early

Press the Digital Crown. The timer stops and you are back on the watch face. While running, the top right of the screen shows “Cancel ▶”, and the arrow points at the Digital Crown.

Leaving the app clears the timer and its scheduled alert. Nothing keeps running in the background, and nothing buzzes later.

Pausing

Tap the ⏸ in the top left. While paused, the water turns gray and “PAUSED” appears under the number. The button becomes a colored ▶; tap it to continue where you left off. The end-of-timer alert does not fire while paused.

Changing the time

Tap the round button at the top center (the stopwatch mark). Use −10s / +10s and −60s / +60s, or the Digital Crown (one detent = 10 seconds), then tap “Done”. The app remembers it for next time. Anything from 10 seconds to 60 minutes.

The colored circle at the bottom left cycles through ten colors. Both the timer screen and the watch-face complication follow your choice.

FAQ

Can I lower my wrist?

Yes. The app stays put while the timer runs instead of returning to the watch face, so the time stays accurate and the haptic lands exactly at zero.

What happens at the end?

One haptic, then it stops. No endless buzzing, nothing to dismiss. The scheduled alert is cleared at the same moment, so nothing happens afterwards. Lower your wrist and you are back on the watch face.

How do I run it again?

Tap the “DONE” screen, or open the app again. Either way it starts with the same time. Simply raising your wrist does not start it.

Opening it from the watch face

Long-press the watch face → Edit → pick a complication slot → choose “One Tap Timer”. The complication shows your preset in seconds (for example 90). If it does not appear in the list, restart the Apple Watch once.

The haptic feels weak

Check Settings → Sounds & Haptics → Haptic Strength on the watch. Turning on “Prominent Haptic” helps too.

Does it make a sound?

No. Haptics only.

Apple Watch only?

Yes. You can install it on the Apple Watch without installing the iPhone app.

iPhone only?

Yes. The same timer runs on iPhone. Settings are kept separately on each device.
